Nairobi citizen Jared Omondi is much concerned about the threat mosquitoes
pose to our health. And he says he was particularly concerned to find that
the two most heavily advertised products to deal with them, Doom and Raid,
simply don't seem to work, he says. However, experience tells him that
the air freshener Tropikal does work. He reports that it kills the little
chaps stone dead!
We live in a global village and should learn from each other,
says Maina Nyamu. For instance, we could learn from the South Africans
about transparent elections.
And they could learn from our ruling party about how to organise
defections and thus push their majority above the magic two-thirds mark;
thus giving them power to change the Constitution without reference to
anyone but their own MPs!
Reuben Ambenge lives in the US and writes regularly to his family
here, but his letters seldom arrive. "What is going on?" he asks. "If you
tamper with mail in the United States you end up behind bars - surely the
same should happen in Kenya."
Christine Ndegi (566722) has an interesting proposition for the
PR wizards of KPTC: she says she has concrete proof that technicians at
Jamhuri exchange are actually sabotaging telephone lines and that if they
contact her she will name names and provide the evidence.
A receptionist, she says their lines go off at the end of each
month and it is put down to aq cabling fault. Then someone from the exchange
always calls to suggest that the cable could be fixed with the help of
TKK. "Because we are in a tight corner we pay up, but now we've had enough,"
she says.
Eliud Mailu complained that Machakos diocese had failed to pay
him for designs he produced for their silver jubilee. Now from England
Reg Wood writes to say how much he admired the designs and that he would
like to hear more from Eliud.
Reg's address is: 52 Suffolk Road, Andover, Hampshire, SP10 2JX,
United Kingdom. Reg and his wife are visiting Machakos in a couple of weeks
time and might even catch up with Eliud then!
Have an exciting day, won't you!
