Warrant of arrest for Keen

By BOB ODALO

A warrant of arrest was yesterday issued for politician John Keen for skipping court.

Also to be arrested is Mr Keen's younger brother, Mr Edward Keen.

Machakos Senior Principal Magistrate Justin Kaburu issued the warrants after the Keen brothers and their advocates failed to appear in court to answer charges of evading tax.

John and Edward Keen, who are joint directors of the Namanga River Hotel, are charged with failing to remit more than Sh59,000 to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

The amount was deducted from the hotel's workers monthly salaries.

The two are accused of committing the offence between November 1996 and March this year.

Mr Kaburu also ordered Mr George Kyungu bonded and taken to hospital after he displayed torture marks allegedly inflicted by police during interrogation. The case will be heard on Monday.
