Church blamed for chaos

By NATION Correspondent

The church and other religious organisations are to blame for the chaos on Budget day, political leaders in Nakuru said yesterday.

They said the church was partisan instead of advocating reconciliation.

The leaders who included civic leaders Kipsomaniant Ngetich, Samuel Toweet activists Joshua Tototich and Shadrack Kiptugen said Parliament was the supreme organ and should be given the responsibility of reviewing the constitution.

They said civic disobedience would not be a solution to the impasse and urged stake holders to support President Moi on the stand on the review.

"What we need done about the constitution is amendment and not total overhaul of the document", they said.

Meanwhile, a DP activist Mr John Kamama criticised the police for their action and cautioned Kenyans to guard against President Moi tactics of reviving the one party rule.
