GOLF Sigona Open ushers in new golf season By NATION Correspondent Kenya's lady golfers embark on the 2002 season, with the two day Sigona Ladies Open at Sigona Golf Club this weekend. The event which also counts towards the Kenya Ladies Golf Union "Golfer of the Year" Award, has as usual, been divided into three sections. The first will be the ladies' foursomes tomorrow morning where 24 pairs are drawn. This will be followed by the mixed foursomes in the afternoon where both events have been sponsored by Comtec Limited. The main event, an 18-hole medal competition being sponsored by Kenya Breweries, for Silver and Bronze, will take place on Sunday where all the leading players in the country, led by Golfer of the Year 2001 Rose Naliaka, have been drawn. Naliaka, who has dominated the Golfer of the Year Award for many years, is being challenged by among others, home lady captain Mary Wanjiru, Muthaiga's Florence Maina and Agnes Wanjiru and the KLGU chairman Lucie Maina of Limuru.
