10,000 acres of pasture land set on fire

By NATION Correspondent

Arsonists have set on fire an extensive acreage of pasture in Gubatu location, Isiolo District.

The arsonists, said to be from Wajir District, set the grazing area on fire due to increasing rivalry between the pastoralists from the two districts, following the Bagalla incident in which more than 140 people were killed.

It is estimated that more than 10,000 acreage of pasture, which constitutes the whole location of Sericho, has been burned.

Local DC John Egesa, who visited the area early this week, condemned the incident and said a contingent of security personnel and the administration police has been dispatched to beef up security in the area.
