Farmer to sue State over his dead dog

By GEOFFREY RONO
and ANGWENYI GICHANA.

A farmer, whose dog was shot dead by a policeman on the Buret/Nyamira border, wants to sue the State.

Mr Wilson Mutai of Burgei, Buret, says the dog – which had eight one-week old puppies – was killed as it attempted to scare away police officers who had stormed his home to arrest three of his sons.

He accused the officers of stealing money and a mobile phone from the three, who are students, and that his other dog was injured.

The police boss, Mr George Wafula, said he had received a complaint from the farmer, adding: "What is wrong with the dog being shot after threatening the lives of officers on duty?"
