When cabinet ministers allow their drivers to flout traffic regulations with impunity, what kind of example do they think they are showing to ordinary Kenyans? On Tuesday, at 1.05 pm, in Nairobi, a minister's four-wheel-drive Musso rode over a flower bed on City Hall Way to avoid using the Uhuru Highway-Haile Selassie roundabout. "I hope you're reading this, Mr Minister. Shame on you!" says a disgusted Mburu Mwangi

James Omondi, on behalf of the freelance tour guides and taxi drivers operating outside Hilton Hotel, Nairobi, denies a West African tourist was robbed of his wallet and passport last week. He says: "Our group and the hotel's security don't like to see people standing aimlessly around the hotel as they may have ill-motives."

Jolly Kavwagi of P.O. Box 58172, Nairobi, took her very sick child to Kenyatta National Hospital on April 15, at 5.30 pm, hoping the baby would be attended to immediately. To her surprise, she says, the baby was not seen until 8 am, the following day – after a really agonising wait.

Bertha Owuor wants to inform the Kenya Power and Lighting Company about change of address, but none of the phone numbers listed on her old bill works. "Telephone No 243366 does not go through. The other number given is 32013201– no point in trying that. Fax number 337351 belongs to someone else. I finally sent my letter to P.O. Box 30099, Nairobi, and I'm sure it's on its way back with RTS," she says.

Is the Director of the City Inspectorate aware that every Saturday, 10 council workers, riding in a Land-Rover, raid small businesses in the Nairobi South "B" area? asks Duncan Kihato. He adds: "They are never in uniform and will arrest you or confiscate your property even if you have a valid licence."

We have seen firms sponsoring beautification of roundabouts and flower gardens in Nairobi, notes Wakaroo Maina, adding: "Can't we interest them in sponsoring recarpeting Juja Road? After every kilometre, we could erect a big signpost showing they sponsored the repair."

Have a rehabilitated day, won't you!
