Five escape from courts
By NATION Correspondent
There was drama yesterday morning when five robbery suspects escaped
from a Nairobi court.
They escaped through the roof of the Makadara Court cells while waiting
to appear for a plea.
The public scampered for safety as gunshots rang and alarm whistles
were blown by court orderlies and prison warders in pursuit.
The incident disrupted proceedings in several courts, causing magistrates
to adjourn cases.
Two of the suspects were later arrested by security personnel, including
plainclothes operatives.
Chief Inspector David Kimanzi, in charge of prosecutions at the law
courts, named the suspects as Henry Musonyi, Sammy Oloo, Eddy Omondi Abong'o,
George Ouma and a Mustafa.
They will appear in court on April 30, to answer more charges against
them.
