Zanzibar has a tropical climate with an average temperature of about 32C and an annual rainfall of about 60 inches. The temperature hits the high thirties during the hot season (December-March) when the northern monsoons (Kaskazi) blow over the island, and high twenties in the cool season (June-August) during the south west monsoons (Kusi), which continue to blow over the islands until November. The heavy rains fall throughout April and May (Masika).

The Island of Zanzibar has much to offer the more active holiday maker: There are excursions to the Josani Forest to see the unique Red Colobus Monkeys and a variety of birdlife; a visit to Cahngu Island, home to giant tortoises and the informative and interesting spice tour.
