Uganda Votes as EC Gets Set for Re-Run
AS UGANDA goes to the polls this Monday to elect its next president, donors, mainly from the European Union, say they will exert immediate pressure after the election to have militant Movement cadres brought under control to avoid a continuation of the violence that marred the campaign.

KCB Sale Put on Hold as Losses Fall

THE PLANNED sale of the government's stake in the Kenya Commercial Bank to a strategic investor has been suspended.

Dar Prawns Investor Seeks to Close Shop  
IRISH BUSINESSMEN Mr John Reginald Nolan is seeking a court order in Dar es Salaam to wind up his businesses in Tanzania. If Mr Nolan's application to voluntarily liquidate African Fishing Company, the largest firm in his Tanol Holdings Ltd, is granted, some 250 workers will lose their jobs. It will also mean losses totalling $33 million for the government and other firms in the country.
