About Zanzibar

Serengeti National Park

Believed to contain the largest concentration of wildlife on earth starting point for the famous annual

migration of wildebeest and zebra. Most lodges are located in the best areas for game viewing.

Ngorongoro Crater

A natural wildlife sanctuary within a volcanic caldera. A unique opportunity to view the Big Five. Rhino are commonly seen in the Crater. Panoramic views from the lodges situated along the rim of the Crater.

Lake Manyara National Park

Most famous for its varied and beautiful birdlife.

Superb scenic park set beside the lake in the Rift

Valley. Variety of accommodation in tented camps or lodges.

Tanzania Explorer

Day 1 Kirurumu /Manyara

Drive from Nairobi to Arusha. After lunch drive to Lake Manyara for overnight at Kirurumu Tented Camp with beautiful views across the lake into the Rift Valley. Dinner and overnight at Kirurumu Tented Camp.

Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater

Game drive after breakfast in Lake Manyara National Park around the forest across open plains, and along the lake, to view the many varieties of game. A farmhouse lunch awaits you at Gibbs Farm, a beautiful family home on a coffee plantation. Afternoon drive to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater and overnight at the luxury Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.

Day 3 Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast a full day's drive in the Crater which is probably the world's largest natural sanctuary, where animals and Masai have coexisted for centuries.

Enjoy a picnic lunch, then return to your lodge late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro

Crater Lodge.

Day 4 Serengeti

Depart after breakfast driving towards the Serengeti. Visit Olduvai Gorge, the site of the Leakey family's famous excavations in their search for the origins of man. On to the beautiful Serengeti Serena Lodge for lunch, then into the northern part of this game reserve for overnight at the luxurious Migration Camp.

Day 5 Serengeti

Migration Camp is on the edge of a conservation area of the Serengeti. Enjoy short walks or game drives in the northern Serengeti which has some of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in the world. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at the Camp.

Day 6 Arusha/Nairobi

After breakfast fly to Arusha for lunch. Drive to Nairobi arriving early evening.

Zanzibar

Renowned over the centuries as 'The Spice Island', Zanzibar has a fascinating history of ancient civilisations and trade. As a focal point on the ancient trading routes, Zanzibar has been subject to conquest and invasion but is now an integral part of the Republic of Tanzania and welcomes visitors to its shores.

The Stone Town

The original Swahili town of Zanzibar is well preserved with narrow streets and small shops are fascinating historic buildings with beautiful hand carved doors and a guided walking tour through the area is highly recommended.

Hotels

We recommend a stay in one of the quaint Stone Town hotels which embodies the best atmosphere of this historic area. There are many excellent new resorts along the coast.

Zanzibar from Mombasa

Fly to Zanzibar, where escorted tours include the Stone Town and spice plantations where the 'Gold of Zanzibar' (the cloves) are grown. Lunch followed by late afternoon flight back to Mombasa.

Zanzibar from Nairobi or Mombasa

Day 1 Zanzibar

Transfer from your hotel to the airport for the flight to Zanzibar. Met on arrival and transferred to a traditional hotel in the Stone Town. In the afternoon take a world famous spice tour. Dhow Palace Hotel, Serena Zanzibar Hotel or similar.

Day 2 Zanzibar

In the morning a guided tour of the Stone town. Afternoon visit to nearby Prison Island for swimming and snorkelling in the azure blue Indian Ocean.

Day 3 Zanzibar

Transfer to the airport, for your return flight an d onward transfer to your hotel, or to one of the many beach resorts.
